Domestic workers’ struggles

Social networking sites circulated the story of a housemaid who was able to get a Ph.D. after she worked in Saudi Arabia for a few years during which she collected a sum of money to go back home and continue her studies. Social media is taken with what this woman has done, where they see a story of struggle, hard work, patience and determination that deserves admiration and appreciation. The woman is ambitious and smart, wasn’t discouraged by obstacles, as she planned to overcome her family’s economic difficulties and achieve her goals. The struggle of this housemaid is not an individual case. Most domestic workers have their own struggles and stories worthy of admiration and appreciation, but the difference is that this woman’s efforts were directed toward her own interests and benefits, while other domestic workers’ hard work geared toward the benefit of family members.
