FTBJ-ICBL 39th Con­fer­ence rolls off

JED­DAH: With 12 teams in the fold so far, the long­est run­ning bowl­ing league in town got off the ground re­cently at the Sul­tanah Mall’s Bowl­ing City here.

Dubbed FTBJ-ICBL 39th Con­fer­ence the five­man team Fri­day af­ter­noon league event will run for 21 weeks and end on March 30 next year.

Un­der the tour­na­ment for­mat teams play points sys­tem elim­i­na­tion round for 18 weeks. The po­si­tion­ing round takes places on the 19th week with the top three fin­ish­ers wait­ing for the cham­pi­onship round matches where they will be joined by four teams to emerge from the semi­fi­nal round among the re­main­ing teams to miss the out­right places for the steplad­der fi­nals.

The first match in the seven-team steplad­der fi­nals will fea­ture the team Nos. 4, 5, 6 and 7 in a two-game se­ries with hand­i­cap knock­out with the win­ner to play the No. 3 team for the right to meet the No. 2 fi­nal­ist and so on. The No. 1 will have a twice to beat edge against the chal­lenger in the cham­pi­onship match.

The In­ter Com­pany Bowl­ing League is spon­sored by TSI (The Syn­ergy In­ter­na­tional), dis­trib­u­tors of Har­vest Co­conut Water juice drink, un­der the aus­pices of Filipino Ten­pin Bowlers of Jed­dah. The spon­sorhip agree­ment was ap­proved by TSI CEO Ah­mad Im­ran and fa­cil­i­tated by Mar­ket­ing Man­ager Raju Nair.

The teams have yet to com­plete their games and re­sults to de­ter­mine the first week’s top team and in­di­vid­ual per­for­mances still be to be fi­nal­ized, ac­cord­ing to or­ga­niz­ers. The 12 teams en­tered are: FGS Bowlers, JP Gi­las IV, Ekis Reload, The Syn­ergy In­ter­na­tional, Crime Buster, Cash Pi­nas-Fawri, Bowl­ing City, Dabarkads, Jeraisah, Lance & 3rdy, Lyn An­gel and Star Mar­ket.

Regis­tra­tion is still open. In­ter­ested teams may visit Bowl­ing City Fri­days in the af­ter­noon for de­tails.
