To sell his watches, 18th-century watchmaker and brand founder Pierre Jaquet-Droz travelled across Europe and Asia, piquing customers’ interest with lifelike mechanical robots in what was a pioneering example of global marketing. Celebrating his inventive spirit, the brand unveils two evocative timepieces. First is The Loving Butterfly, which features an enamel dial depicting a cherub on a chariot drawn by a butterfly to symbolise Jaquet-Droz’s penchant for childlike wonder and adventure. There is also The Charming Bird, which references Jaquet-Droz’s 18th-century automatons. The watch features a miniature bird automaton that emits incredibly realistic chirps when activated. Both timepieces are limited to 28 pieces each.
