FOUND IN: TAG HEUER MIKROPENDULUMS WHAT’S SPECIAL: This is the world’s first double tourbillon movement that uses “magnetic pendulums” instead of hairsprings. A watch’s hairspring is attached to a balance wheel, which controls the speed at which the wheels of the timepiece turn. Here, the hairspring is replaced by Tag Heuer’s patented magnet-driven system that ensures greater accuracy and stability. There are two magnetic pendulums in this watch. The one on the left keeps time for the watch, with a tourbillon rotating three times a minute. The pendulum features a second tourbillon that rotates 12 times a minute and oscillates at an ultra-high frequency of 360,000 vibrations an hour. To compare, normal watches beat at 28,800vph and conventional tourbillons rotate once every minute.
