WHO THEY ARE An assembly workshop established in Saignelegier, Switzerland, by its parent company, Desco von Schulthess AG, in 1961, to make watch parts for other companies. The brand was established in 1975 and became a full-fledged manufacture in 2006. It produces its complex movements in-house. CLAIM TO FAME Its expertise lies in retrograde displays, moon-phase indicators and chronographs, such as the ML 106 movement, Memoire 1 and Grande Complication (2008). WHAT’S HOT The Masterpiece Squelette, which gives a modern take on traditional skeletonisation watches with satin and brushed finishing instead of overwrought engravings on the ML134 handwound movement. RETAILS AT Masterpiece Time & Jewels, Watches of Switzerland, Acube Timeless and Fook Hing Trading Co.
