WHO THEY ARE Es­tab­lished by watch­mak­ers Paul Cattin and Ge­orges Chris­tian in 1904 in Holder­bank, Switzer­land, to make me­chan­i­cal watches. CLAIM TO FAME In 1938, Oris launched its first Oris Pointer cal­en­dar move­ment, which is still an im­por­tant part of the brand’s col­lec­tion. In 1966, it pro­duced the world-fa­mous au­to­matic move­ment Cal­i­bre 645 with a 25-jewel lever es­cape­ment, and launched its first chrono­graph, Chronoris, in 1970. WHAT’S HOT The Aquis Depth Gauge with an in­no­va­tive depth-mea­sur­ing sys­tem. It fea­tures an ul­tra­thick sap­phire crys­tal with a milled chan­nel that al­lows wa­ter to en­ter the crys­tal. The wa­ter­mark formed by the liq­uid cor­re­sponds to a scale that dis­plays the depth the watch is at.
