The vast Ama­zo­nian re­gion holds the largest re­main­ing jaguar pop­u­la­tion, in terms of both num­ber of an­i­mals and their ex­tent. In 2011 it was es­ti­mated that 10,000 jaguars sur­vived here, mostly in Brazil.
