YI NING’S PALEO TREATS

CLEO (Singapore) - - ADULTING -

I jumped on the low-fat-whole-grain bandwagon some time ago, but as a result of that diet, I suffered from hormonal imbalances for two years. After plenty of doctor visits, I learnt to make simple nutritional changes and my problems were solved within a month. The more I read up on health and nutrition, the more the Paleo diet resonated with me, and since I also love baking and experimenting with new recipes, I decided to start Bakening. Everything in Bakening is Paleo and vegetarian. They’re flourless and glutenand dairy-free. I don’t use grains, refined or artificial sugars, soy, colourings, additives, gums or preservatives in anything I bake. All my breakfast items such as muffins have no added sugar either, as I believe that’s the right way to start your day. All my cookies and cereals are also eggless and vegan. Many of my customers have allergies or skin issues like eczema, but they have found my products safe to eat. I’m hoping to expand my team in the near future so I can focus on the bigger picture and grow my business. I don’t have anything concrete planned yet, but I’d love to see Bakening reach people living beyond our shores. “I’m not that great at it, but I do a bit of digital art and also graphic and website design. I started tinkering with websites when I was about 13 years old by using free hosting sites. I even coded from scratch!”
