Michael Gindl is the freespir­ited Aus­trian wine­maker be­hind this Deme­ter bio­dy­namic-cer­ti­fied, min­i­mal in­ter­ven­tion wines from Wein­veier­tel East. Bessi is the first High­land cow on the farm, which also sees sheep and horses. Treated with the great­est care, the blend of 80% Zweigelt 2011 and 20% Caber­net Sauvi­gnon 2012 grapes were whole bunch fer­mented and stayed on mash for ad­di­tional six months. Cel­lar for at least five to 10 years to reach its full po­ten­tial of black graphite notes, dense cherry fruit with co­coa and a lin­ger­ing vanilla. $62 from Am­pelia Fine Wines
