In 2015, kan­ga­roo-fur-lined, back­less ver­sions of Gucci’s snaf­fle loafers de­buted in a run­way col­lec­tion by Creative Di­rec­tor Alessan­dro Michele. The fashion crowd went wild for them and the rest is his­tory. Though fur-lined footwear has been worn as far back as at least 500BC (sheep­skin boots were found on a mummy un­earthed in China), for Fall/Win­ter’17 it’s as much about hav­ing fur, shear­ling, fluff or pelt de­tail­ing on the out­side of your shoes as it is hav­ing it on the in­side.
