It may sound silly, but I’m worried about how our daughter (11) and our son (8) are going to cope with our inevitable move back home to Auckland later this year. Since we moved to Singapore four years ago for my husband’s job – I work full-time, too – they’ve had the constant attention of our fantastic helper, who cooks for the family, picks up after the kids and (I suspect) spoils them rotten while we’re at work. As a result, they don’t do a thing for themselves. How do I prepare them for the big change? I feel like we’ve been living in a bubble – and it’s about to burst.
