Some 3,000 food and drink aficionados descended on Publika to savor a Taste of Tiffin, a prelude to a food event in September this year that attempts to capture the region’s best food and drink experiences.
The food event kicked off with “Tiffin Throwdown”, a food contest which saw myBurgerLab defeat 9 other burger maestros to win both the People’s and Judges Choice award.
Their submission, the Umami Bomb burger – which comprised of a rendered Aussie beef patty, topped with Californian swiss cheese, shiitake & enoki mushrooms in a signature charcoal bun bagged the restaurant a cash prize of RM6,000. The burger was reviewed by Asian Food Channel host Razif Hashim, celebrity chef Sherson Lian and DJ Blink.
The event also presented a gastronomic adventure for eaters at its food market, “the Chowdown“where 26 vendors offered various gourmet dishes built around a mini golf course constructed with a variety of obstacles and surprises.
In addition to food, the event also ran a mixology section called “Heart of the Run” which featured 44 bar enthused cocktail connoisseurs which provided guests the opportunities to experience the evolution of cocktails through the eras.
Commenting on the event, founder of Tiffin and Freeform United, Adrian Yap said that the event offered a distinctive approach to food which isn’t common to the Malaysian scene.
“Tiffin is our humble interpretation of how food and drink events should be experienced; not just about consumption, but also taking into account the entire experience. It’s fun, innovative and perhaps a little unconventional.” said Yap.
Tiffin Week which will be held on Sep 24th to October 3rd will feature extraordinary food experiences and will be spearheaded by chefs and mixologists from our backyard and around the world.
