Some 3,000 food and drink afi­ciona­dos de­scended on Pub­lika to sa­vor a Taste of Tif­fin, a pre­lude to a food event in Septem­ber this year that at­tempts to cap­ture the re­gion’s best food and drink ex­pe­ri­ences.

The food event kicked off with “Tif­fin Throw­down”, a food con­test which saw myBurg­erLab de­feat 9 other burger mae­stros to win both the Peo­ple’s and Judges Choice award.

Their sub­mis­sion, the Umami Bomb burger – which com­prised of a ren­dered Aussie beef patty, topped with Cal­i­for­nian swiss cheese, shi­itake & enoki mush­rooms in a sig­na­ture char­coal bun bagged the restau­rant a cash prize of RM6,000. The burger was re­viewed by Asian Food Chan­nel host Razif Hashim, celebrity chef Sher­son Lian and DJ Blink.

The event also pre­sented a gas­tro­nomic ad­ven­ture for eaters at its food mar­ket, “the Chow­down“where 26 ven­dors of­fered var­i­ous gourmet dishes built around a mini golf course con­structed with a va­ri­ety of ob­sta­cles and sur­prises.

In ad­di­tion to food, the event also ran a mixol­ogy sec­tion called “Heart of the Run” which fea­tured 44 bar en­thused cock­tail con­nois­seurs which pro­vided guests the op­por­tu­ni­ties to ex­pe­ri­ence the evo­lu­tion of cock­tails through the eras.

Com­ment­ing on the event, founder of Tif­fin and Freeform United, Adrian Yap said that the event of­fered a dis­tinc­tive ap­proach to food which isn’t com­mon to the Malaysian scene.

“Tif­fin is our hum­ble in­ter­pre­ta­tion of how food and drink events should be ex­pe­ri­enced; not just about con­sump­tion, but also tak­ing into ac­count the en­tire ex­pe­ri­ence. It’s fun, in­no­va­tive and per­haps a lit­tle un­con­ven­tional.” said Yap.

Tif­fin Week which will be held on Sep 24th to Oc­to­ber 3rd will fea­ture ex­tra­or­di­nary food ex­pe­ri­ences and will be spear­headed by chefs and mixol­o­gists from our back­yard and around the world.
