In re­cent years, agave has been trend­ing among nat­u­ral health com­mu­ni­ties. Like Ste­via, agave has a long his­tory of be­ing used to flavour food and drink. It was highly sought af­ter by the Aztecs for its nat­u­ral sweet­ness and comes from the same plant that is used to make tequila. The agave plant grows in south­west­ern USA to the north­ern part of South Amer­ica. Agave is 1.5 times sweeter than sugar and con­tains up to 60 calo­ries per ta­ble­spoon.
