Rolled Oats

Food and Travel (Singapore) - - Cook's Basics -

Rolled Oats (also known as Old-fashioned Oats) are created when husked oats are steamed to make them soft and supple, then flattened into flakes. This process ensures the oats remain fresh for a longer period of time by retaining the healthy oils in the oats, and helps the oats cook faster by creating a larger surface area. These oats are flat, slightly textured, have uneven round shapes and are commonly used in granola bars, cookies, muffins and other baked goods.
