Offering a retro-chic gastro-pub experience to diners is Les Amis Group's newest establishment – Jinzakaya. Housed next to the group's sister concept Sushi Jin – a luxurious Japanese fine dining restaurant – Jinzakaya aims to bring diners back to the old Japanese taverns, while taking the traditional izakaya to another level with an ambience that exudes fun. With affordable set lunches, sharing plates and a selection of yakimono available, diners can enjoy tantalising Japanese meals in an edgy retro enclave. Choose from four lunch menus that feature rice, noodles, sandwiches and salads. The signature JIN Tori Ramen is a flavourful white chicken broth with chargrilled chicken and onsen egg. Japanese curry fans can tuck into the crispy pork belly katsu with special house-made curry, while those looking for a simpler meal can try the JIN Sake Harashu, a serving a fresh greens, slices of salmon belly and homemade ponzu dressing. Each meal, priced at S$12.80, comes with a choice of hot or cold hojicha. On to dinner, yakimono takes the stage with 19 delicious grilled skewers and 10 mains. From Tori Momo (chicken thigh) and Tebasaki (mid wing chicken joint) to foie gras (S$9.50) and MBS 4 Wagyu Kushi (S$9), there is something for every palate here. On the mains are the popular Kurama Ebi Bacon (S$20), a mouth-watering king prawn wrapped in bacon, and the MBS 8 Australian Wagyu 100g (S$60), chargrilled to medium-rare. For a lighter fare, a variety of chinmi, sashimi and salads are sure to satisfy. A selection of beer, shochu and sweet to dry sakes, including niche brands and brews, would complement the meal. Ladies should try the fruit-based Amabaki Blood Orange and Tenzen Yuzu sakes, while beer lovers can enjoy a refreshing mug of Suntory draft beer. ◆ 1 Farrer Park Station Road.
