Corn

Food and Travel (Singapore) - - Cook's Basics -

This golden grain was one of the first plants to be domesticated. It was planted by prehistoric indigenous people in the Americas and it remains to be a staple crop throughout the globe. Mexicans use it in tortillas, atole and tamales; Americans use it in corn bread and corn dogs; and countless cuisines utilise cornstarch, high fructose corn syrup, and corn oil.
