Bar­ley was one of the first grains to be cul­ti­vated. To­day, it's the fourth most grown ce­real crop in the world. It's highly ver­sa­tile and it's used in a va­ri­ety of foods, es­pe­cially in the Mid­dle East. This grain can be sipped too – it's essen­tial in the pro­duc­tion of beer and whiskey.
