Raising the bar
Come 16 March, cocktail fans around the island state can immerse in the wonder of cocktails at the inaugural sixday Singapore Cocktail Festival 2017. Showcasing home-grown talents and some 40 participating bars in a 5,000sqm space, the event aims to position Singapore “as a leading cocktail city in Asia”, says Ivy Woo, Festival Director and Co-founder. Jointly organised by The Events Artery and Food News Public Relations, the event is set to raise the bar on cocktail drinking in Singapore, looking to not only create a platform for anyone to learn more about the scene, but also provide opportunities for consumers and trade to engage. Revolving around three themes – ‘Taste’, ‘Play’ and ‘Learn’ – visitors are invited to ‘Taste’ and relish special cocktail menus or food pairing experiences, while ‘Play’ sets the stages for thematic cocktail parties and bar tours. For those looking to ‘Learn’ more about cocktails, hands-on masterclasses held by established bartenders are bound to be engaging. Taking the event to another level this year is the inaugural Festival Village, held from 16-19 March, featuring over 10 immersive cocktail rooms, featuring over 50 different types of cocktails at just S$12 each. Visitors can also help choose which cocktail best represents Singapore from four finalists that would be presented at the event to wrap up a two-month shortlisting process. A food street with restaurant pop-ups, a tasting room for handcrafted and small-batch spirits, a live music stage, and guest bartenders from all around the world, promise to make the event a week to remember.
