Mag­pies, re­joice: There’s a candy foil wrap­per qual­ity to all the glit­ter and sparkle this sea­son; it was par­tic­u­larly il­lu­mi­nat­ing to see how brands filled the col­lec­tions with so much metal­lic shine. Sil­ver tones with a Space Age spirit lifted off from Chanel’s run­way (life-sized rocket in­cluded), while Louis Vuit­ton’s Ni­co­las Gh­esquière en­gi­neered a shiny dress that looked as if it came from a wardrobe of the fu­ture. Other de­sign­ers daz­zled by sim­ply go­ing ul­tra sleek: Donatella Ver­sace showed the trend doesn’t al­ways have to look pretty by fash­ion­ing a killer num­ber with enough wattage to light up the night sky.
