For the past couple of seasons, Tod’s has staged avant-garde performances as part of its prerunway show experience. Last year, it tapped on Vanessa Beecroft for an installation that saw Karlie Kloss lying tableau vivant as artisans began sewing her into a leather ensemble. For fall 2017,Tod’s worked with Thomas de Falco on an installation that displayed the age-old art of loom woven tapestries. Featuring Naomi Campbell as some form of a Mother Earth figure, it put the spotlight back on the brand’s expertise in craft. As for the clothes that came after the thought-provoking performance? A clear focus on chic outerwear, with beautiful leather parkas, sweeping trench coats and an au courant puffer jacket.
