Inspired by the optimism and freedom of the ’70s, Phoebe Philo has breathed new life into one of Céline’s classic bags—the Sulky. Designed in 1975, the archival bag style was part of the brand’s American Sulky collection, which featured its horse and carriage motif of 1967. Expertly crafted in supple calfskin, the shoulder bag’s sharp, clean lines are softened with rounded edges, and its unassuming compact structure consists of three compartments—all of which are supported by thick leather straps and finished with Céline’s iconic equestrian emblem in gold. In true Céline fashion, the Sulky is a perfect marriage of form and function, bound by an innate sense of modern elegance. ■
