ADVENTURE OF A LIFETIME
Shot in exotic locales from Iceland to Indonesia, these pre-wedding portraits are the stuff
From Iceland to Yogyakarta, Priscilla Wang and Colin Wang’s wedding portraits are the stuff of fantasies.
We had two overseas shoots in Iceland and Yogyakarta, and one in Singapore. Deciding to shoot in different locations was due to our love for adventure and travel. Both of us are always game for new experiences.
We chose Iceland as we were completely mesmerised by its dramatically contrasting landscapes. The challenging weather – snow and strong winds while hiking in our gowns and suits – made the experience truly meaningful.
Before heading over, we skyped with photographer Mait Juriado a few times to make sure we were comfortable with him because he was key in deciding locations. At times, Mait would suddenly catch sight of a great spot and we’d quickly jump out of the car to get a few shots.
We enjoyed the spontaneity and adrenaline rush. Being in Iceland, we wanted to cover as many locations as possible, and our photographer gave us just that.
“It’s important that you are comfortable
with the photographer. His portfolio should give you the confidence you need to trust him.”
“There were so many firsts during our Iceland trip. It turned out to be an eyeopening adventure for us.”
In contrast, our local shoot was decidedly urban, architectural and theatrical. Atlas
Bar’s opulent Art Deco surroundings really impressed us and we were confident that the place would complement the strengths of Joe Teng of Acapella Photography. Colin felt that the ambience really suited my Galia Lahav gowns. We also took some pictures at the iconic National Gallery and Victoria Concert Hall.
Shooting in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, came up in our discussions with Joe. We were reluctant at first. However, a brief lesson on its rich culture, historical vibe, beautiful ancient ruins, and temples won us over. It was also the perfect excuse for another pre-wedding adventure. The images were amazing!
Doing our photos in different destinations gave us tons of beautiful and meaningful memories. The experience was definitely all worthwhile.
