Common Encryption Methods on Cloud Storage Services

THE ENCRYPTED CONNECTION METHOD One of the most commonly-used methods employed by cloud storage services is encrypting the communication channel between your computer and the cloud service. This means that the data is only encrypted during transmission, which prevents any unauthorized parties from viewing your data during the data transfer. However, this also means that the data is decrypted when it arrives on your cloud storage service’s server, so staff which have access to the server could possibly view your data. Secure Sockets Layer is an example of this encryption method.
