Good Value for Money
Lexmark CX310dn Laser Printer
The Lexmark CX310dn is one of the latest multifunction printers (MFP) from the U.S. manufacturer capable of color printing, scanning and copying. It also has network connectivity built-in via Gigabit Ethernet, but no Wi-Fi support out of the box. For that, you have to get an optional wireless print server kit. Still, Lexmark has yet to come up with a mobile app that allows for direct mobile printing and scanning like many other printer manufacturers.
Back to the CX310dn, its size is pretty standard for a printer of this class and while it has no fancy features like a touchenabled control panel, it does the basics right. Paper handling is better than what you might get in other printers within this class and price range.
The Lexmark CX310dn comes with an automatic document feeder (ADF) that makes it easier to copy and scan multi-page documents. The ADF is able to handle 50 sheets or paper, while the standard input tray fits 250 sheets. The printer also features a duplexer, so you do not need to manually flip the pages over when printing or copying double-sided documents.
Printing performance is robust, with a print speed of 24 pages per minute for both monochrome and color documents. Print quality for documents with colored images and charts are generally good, though the color saturation can be better. Small text is legible, but not as sharp when compared to some of its peers. On the other hand, copy quality for monochrome documents generates relatively sharp text.
We do not recommend using the CX310dn for photo printing however, and when tested, revealed that only smaller images have passable quality.
When you get down to it, the Lexmark CX310dn is a decent office workhorse. It may not be the most versatile printer for home use, but it can boast of fast print and copy speeds as well as good copy quality. What makes the printer more attractive is its competitive price and useful paper handling features such as ADF and duplexer, making the Lexmark CX310dn a value-for-money purchase.
Users can copy and scan multiple pages without having to manually replace each page by using the ADF.
