Quick Charge is a Qualcomm technology that enables smartphones and tablets to charge faster. In 2012, there were over 70 devices that came with Quick Charge 1.0; and last year, Qualcomm released Quick Charge 2.0 as part of the power management integrated circuit in the company’s Snapdragon 800 processors. In a nutshell, Quick Charge 2.0 devices can charge up to 75% faster than those without, or 40% faster than Quick Charge 1.0 devices. A compatible wall charger is also needed.

However, note that not all Snapdragon 800 devices support Quick Charge 2.0. For example, the LG G2 does, but the Nexus 5 doesn’t because it uses another company’s battery charging IC.
