Why Tablets are the Future Macs
On stage at the D8 conference in 2010, Steve Jobs compared PCs to trucks, and tablets to cars: “PCs are going to be like trucks. They’re still going to be around, they’re still going to have a lot of value, but they’re going to be used by one out of X people.”
Four years later, it seems the late Apple co-founder was right. While tablet sales are growing year on year, PC sales have been slipping, and at their current rate of growth, tablets have been predicted to outsell PCs, likely in these next two years. In fact, analyst Benedict Evans pointed out that for one month in December 2013 (likely due to Christmas), the number of iOS devices sold by Apple actually reached parity with the number of Windows PCs sold.
