WHO’S WHO IN XIAOMI
Lei Jun, Founder, Chairman and CEO
Before Lei set up Xiaomi, he was an active entrepreneur in the Chinese tech industry. Lei was part of the founding team of Kingsoft in 1992, and became its CEO in 1998.
He was also a founder of online retailer Joyo, which he sold to Amazon in 2004 for US$75 million. Lei is also a well-known investor in several Chinese companies such as UC Web, a mobile Internet company.
Lin Bin, Co-founder, President
As President of Xiaomi, Bin is in charge of the company’s day-to-day operations, business and product strategy, carrier relationship, and strategic partnership with domestic and international carriers, suppliers and business partners.
Bin worked at Microsoft from 1995 to 2006 and held senior positions such as Senior Development Manager at Microsoft Research Asia. He then joined Google as Engineering Director from 2006 to 2010.
Hugo Barra, Vice President
Barra is responsible for Xiaomi’s product portfolio and operations in all markets outside Mainland China.
Before joining Xiaomi in October 2013, Barra worked for five and a half years in Google. He oversaw the development of the Android platform, Nexus device portfolio and several of Google’s Android apps.
