There was a time when it was unheard of for a console to get new features as time passed. And updates usually only came in the form of system fixes that rode on the discs of newer games.

Today, over-the-air firmware updates are common and happen more frequently. And from time to time, you get a big swanky update that substantially adds to what the console offers. The Playstation 4’s latest 2.50 firmware, codenamed “Yukimura” is one such update. Here are a few things you might want to try out after updating your PS4.

Everyone likes trophies. They are the reflection of your digital prowess and envy of all your gaming friends. But, knowing you have said trophies and actually sharing them for the world to see wasn’t so easy before. With Yukimura, when accessing the Trophies section, you’ll now find that each achievement you earned as a picture attached to it, which allows you to expand your bragging rights and share directly on social media. Nothing major but a neat touch nonetheless.

The Playstation Network is divided into different worldwide regions. For example, U.S., Europe, Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore all have different PSN Stores, with varying content. Sony doesn’t actually limit account creation, so it’s to your benefit to have an account that covers the major stores to gain access to everything. Account creation is simple, you’ll have to register four separate emails and street addresses (Google is your friend here). Just create an account as usual, but when asked to choose a country, select the country that corresponds to the region you want.
