This one’s for the transportation geeks. The New York Transit Museum is located in a decommissioned subway station from the 1930s in Downtown Brooklyn. It preserves historical artifacts of the New York City subway, bus, commuter rail, and bridge and tunnel systems.

Besides the usual history and facts you get in any museum, the NY Transit Museum also houses real buses and old subway cars for you to climb and sit through, with vintage token booths, signage and artwork to admire.
