Based on a newly developed Current Confinement Self-Scanning Light Emitting Device (CCSLED) and Set-Type ThYristor Logic S-LED (STYLS) technologies, the Fuji Xerox CM315 z is capable of 1,200 x 2,400 dpi quality prints. It is also packed with 1GB of memory and a 50-sheet ADF that supports single-pass duplex scanning for breezing through multi-page scan jobs.

Other amenities include a 4.3-inch touch panel and a direct scan to USB function. The former is particularly great for walk-up jobs: large and colorful icons aside, you can group commonly used functions together for quicker access.

For testing, I hooked up the CM315 z to a Windows machine via USB, but you can also connect to it over a wired or wireless network. Security features built into the printer include support for IPV6, IPsec, Secure HTTPs (SSL), and SNMPV3. You can also set a password to a print job, so that data is encrypted during transit and prints only when you’ve walked up to the printer and entered the password. It also oBers built-in Near Field Communication (NFC), and is mobile and cloud printing-friendly, supporting protocols and services like Apple AirPrint, Google Cloud Print, and Mopria Print Service.

The printer takes roughly 40 seconds to warm itself up, but that’s not uncommon for multifunction laser or S-LED printers. With my usual set of test les, I recorded a print speed of 29ppm for mono and 27ppm for color, very close to Fuji Xerox’s own claims of 28ppm for both. First page out took an average of 12 seconds after hitting the print button on my test PC.

Quality-wise, text looks extremely sharp and clean due to very smooth outlines, with gradations in my color ramp test well handled too. Copy quality is average however, probably due to the scanner’s 600 x 600dpi native resolution.

All in, the Fuji Xerox DocuPrint CM315 z is an easy recommendation. It is speedy, prints well, and is easy to use. It also has a maximum monthly duty cycle of 52,000 pages, which is great for businesses that print a lot.

CONCLUSION Fuji Xerox’s past printers are usually fast but lack mobile features. The CM315 z has both.
