Kirin 970 is one of the first mobile chipsets to implement hardware specifically for AI computing. The only other maker to do something similar is Apple, via their A11 Bionic chipset’s Neural Engine. Most AI implementation in existing smartphones is software-based, either via algorithms or API. The 10nm manufacturing process used to create the Hi-Silicon Kirin 970 chipset is the same method employed to create your Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, Samsung Exynos 8895, and Apple A11 Bionic SOCS.
