A zap and a pulse from a laser to deal with a few little problems.

Nu Reflections’ 16 years in the business of medical aesthetics counts for something. A recent revamp and refresh sees the clinic made modern – the crowd they’re chasing is an expanded one now, after all. Aesthetic treatments are the new frontier of beauty, and there is a plethora of non-invasive and gentle treatments for younger women who want to start early.

Heading the medical spa is Dr Ivan Tan, whose passion for aesthetic medicine led him around the world (the UK, Italy, Hong Kong and South Korea, among other countries) to learn from the best. That paved the way for him to become an early adopter of laser aesthetic treatment technology in Singapore. Now that everyone else has caught up, he has the vindication of experience and skill.

An ideal gateway into laser treatments is the Veins Removal treatment, which is a lot less intimidating than its name sounds. It is intended to remove spider and varicose veins, which are said to occur commonly regardless of age. The treatment utilises a Cosjet SR laser, which is uncommon in Singaporean aesthetic clinics due to the skill and finesse needed to operate it well. It works by emitting a laser that reaches beneath the top of the dermal layer to affect the targeted veins directly.

In essence, the light from the laser is said to heat up the undesirable spider veins and break them down, supposedly stimulating a response in the body that removes it. The Cosjet SR machine used by Nu Reflections also comes with a contact cooling system that reduces discomfort, and different wavelength options that adjust the laser’s intensity to match the degree of the problem and treatment needed.

The Veins Removal treatment (from $500) with the Cosjet SR varies depending on the density and size of the treatment area. The treatment does not require any special preparation and will follow a consultation with Dr Tan and a cleansing of the treatment area.

Nu Reflections is at #05-13 Regency House, 123 Penang Road (tel: 6235-0555)
