As a child, Beckmann spent a large portion of his time in the art department of his parents’ advertising agency. It sparked his passion to pursue “something to do with fashion”. At 13, he bought a Pentax 6x7, which he still owns but doesn’t use. A graduate of photography at NYU Tisch School of the Arts, Beckmann began his career as an assistant to legendary photographer Albert Watson, and has lived and worked in South Africa and Paris. He is now based in Munich.
