Rachel Ang Writer
Beyond anything, Ang needs her feet to be squeaky clean before she can sleep in peace in her own bed. Needless to say, it’s a perilous path for her to take from the bathroom to the bedroom, in which there are plenty of obstacles to dodge, and many dust particles and miscellaneous items that are liable to be picked up along the way.
Ilike to think that it’s easy to spot Men’s Folio readers – they are chichi, stylish and sophisticated. You can tell they’ve been keeping up with our trend reports season after season, and know what’s trending and what’s not. From their luxury label exotic leather clutches to the choice of white sneakers, timepieces, and made-to- measure suits, there’s a certain poise about the way these competent dressers carry off the looks. Aside from the clothes that they wear, you’ll also find that this discerning bunch have acquired quite an exquisite palate when it comes to the finer things in life. For instance, they would often opt for vintage or small batch champagnes and favour single malt whiskies over blended ones. When they travel, most of them would prefer luxury boutique hotels over runof-the- mill chained- brand hotels. Such behaviour, though not uncommon, seems to fit right into our perception of “fashion people”. Fashion is not just about donning the latest threads over your body or the accessories that you flaunt; being fashionable is a choice and a lifestyle.
As much as we would like to take credit for every man who’s been putting in a respectable amount of effort to look good, we also believe that more and more men have no qualms about wanting to do so on their own. All we did was to nudge them in the right direction when it comes to making the right choices. So we thought, for our June/july issue, let’s bring our readers up to speed on the topic of how to look and feel good. We call this our Rejuvenation issue.
From the best getaways to re- energise the mind and soul to the widely popular intermittent fasting diet that will help expose your washboard abs, we got it covered. For bachelors out there, it’s time to spruce up your pad. Find out what it takes to turn your crib into a hip and cool hangout.
On this issue’s cover is one of Asia’s most eligible bachelors, Wang Ta Lu. In an exclusive cover shoot and interview, the 25-year- old Taiwanese thespian, best known for his role as Xu Tai Yu in Our Times, spoke candidly to Men’s Folio about his rise to fame and how his playful side almost cost him his career.
On the digital front, we gave you a glimpse of the Objets Nomades collection exhibition in Singapore. The collaboration between Louis Vuitton and ten established international designers to produce a series of travel- inspired pieces is on display at the Louis Vuitton Island Maison at Marina Bay Sands. On our social media front, we took you inside a bigger and fully renovated Hermès flagship store at Liat Tower. We would also want to thank Singapore’s very own talented artiste Desmond Tan for sharing some of the photos from his Men’s Folio spread with his social media followers. Thanks Desmond! Enjoy the issue!
