Ac­cord­ing to a study pub­lished in The Jour­nal of Al­ter­na­tive and Com­ple­men­tary Medicine, do­ing

which are mainly fatty acids and choles­terol. Re­searchers car­ried out a ran­dom­ized con­trolled study of 44 healthy univer­sity stu­dents, and ex­plored the ef­fect of a sixweek high­in­ten­sity hatha yoga (HIY) pro­gramme on VO2 max, max­i­mal heart rate, as well as other blood pa­ram­e­ters. Al­though this yoga form had no sig­nif­i­cant ef­fect on VO2 max, re­sults showed that there was an in­crease in adiponectin lev­els – a hor­mone that en­hances in­sulin

sen­si­tiv­ity, glu­cose tol­er­ance and the ox­i­da­tion of fatty acids in mus­cle.
