Hatha yoga may improve blood lipids,
According to a study published in The Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine, doing
which are mainly fatty acids and cholesterol. Researchers carried out a randomized controlled study of 44 healthy university students, and explored the effect of a sixweek highintensity hatha yoga (HIY) programme on VO2 max, maximal heart rate, as well as other blood parameters. Although this yoga form had no significant effect on VO2 max, results showed that there was an increase in adiponectin levels – a hormone that enhances insulin
sensitivity, glucose tolerance and the oxidation of fatty acids in muscle.
