A grand display of objets d’art
The honour of having created the first wristwatch belongs to Patek Philippe. It was considered a feminine accessory, with much smaller movements than pocket watches and thus kept poor time. It wasn’t until World War I and the active use of modern weaponry that wristwatches became regarded as a men’s tool. Strapped to the wrist with military canvas and used to time campaigns, wristwatches conquered the world.
