And Rolls-Royce Motor Cars is doing just that in creating its two new models that redefine what a super-luxury car should be: unique, handcrafted, beautiful and rare.

The first, the new Rolls-Royce Dawn is a strikingly beautiful convertible, which was launched online on September 8, before premiering at the Frankfurt International Motor Show on September 15.

It has taken inspiration from another famous and rare Rolls-Royce name first used in 1949 by the original Silver Dawn. The name harks back to the company’s distant past while promising fresh new possibilities.

Specific engineering and manufacturing attention was paid to ensure the new Dawn is uncompromising in every aspect of its design. Featuring 80 per cent unique body panels and the quietest roof mechanism, the Rolls-Royce Dawn is quite simply, the sexiest Rolls-Royce ever built.

The second model, developed under Project Cullinan, was confirmed early this year in an open letter issued jointly by Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Chairman Peter Schwarzenbauer and Chief Executive Officer Torsten Müller-Ötvös. It will feature an allwheel-drive suspension system that will deliver on Rolls-Royce’s hallmark “magic-carpet” ride both on and off-road, and will be “Effortless… Everywhere”.

The eventual high-sided, all-terrain motor car will embody the pioneering and adventurous spirit of Charles Rolls, as well as Sir Henry’s dedication to engineering and innovation. The engineering mule is being tested to ensure that it delivers the same unrivalled ride quality on loose surfaces and challenging terrain as it does on the road.

Sir Henry Royce once famously said:“When it does not exist, design it.”
