Auctioned by Phillips in London for £369,000 (S$672,000).
Executed in 2012, British sculptor Antony Gormley’s State III led Phillips’ April sale to its highest result for a New Now sale in London. The mild steel bar State III sculpture displaces the artist’s body through ‘physical pixellations’ made from steel blocks. Incised with the artist’s initials, numbered and dated ‘AM DG 1493 2012’ on the underside of the foot, the work uses the tectonics of post and lintel architecture to translate body mass into a high-rise tower or cantilevered pontoon. www.phillips.com
