Baste

A temporarily stitched-together garment, readied for an earlystage fitting. (Not what Meghan Trainor is “all about”.)

Upper

Scye

A contraction of “arm’s eye”, the coat’s shoulder hole into which a sleevehead is sewn. Pronounced like ‘sigh’: the resigned exhalation of breath a customer might make when presented with his tailoring bill.

Skirt

Gorge

Press
