Eight’s the magic number
To get a huge mood boost, have a banana, salad or frankly any fruit or vegetable. With every additional serving of produce people ate daily, researchers measured an increase in happiness and well-being, a recent study of more than 12,000 men and women found. The difference between zero servings a day and eight was equivalent to landing a job after being unemployed! Scientists aren’t sure why these foods have such a powerful effect, but previous research shows that their vitamins may help increase your levels of serotonin, the feel-good hormone.
