Reg­u­larly bik­ing for 60 min­utes or strength train­ing for 75 has the same ef­fect. One pos­si­ble rea­son: ex­er­cise re­duces the in­flam­ma­tion and ox­ida­tive stress that can shorten telom­eres – the pro­tein caps on the ends of chro­mo­somes that pre­vent age-ac­cel­er­at­ing dam­age.
