Talk to Them

Sean Chan, co-director of Le Driving Instructors, says you shouldn’t be afraid to broach the subject of driving safety with your parents. “Family members are responsible for helping to keep one another safe. Suggest alternatives to driving and, if your parents choose to stop driving altogether, help them adapt to the change. Giving up their car keys may make them feel like they’re losing their independence, so help them see the benefits of taking public transport – it will help them save money, minimise parking woes, and walking will benefit their health. If you feel that they could do with a driving refresher course, engage an instructor for them.”
