Just Can’t Dump It!
Georgina says these three things are the hardest to get rid of. Here’s how to lessen the pain. 1 CLOTHES Every time you touch or try on old clothes, you’re rebuilding your attachment to them – even if you haven’t worn them for years, says Georgina. “Get a declutter buddy – your husband, kid or friend – to hold your outfits up while you pick which ones to throw out. They’re also more ruthless in dishing out opinions.” 2 MEMORABILIA “If these are truly meaningful, don’t discard them. But you don’t need 10 fridge magnets from one country. So pick your favourite and give the rest away. Or take a photo of them and make a collage,” suggests Georgina. As for cards and gifts, if you can’t remember the people who gave them to you, chances are they won’t bring back fond memories, so chuck them. 3 WHEN YOU’VE SPENT GOOD MONEY ON SOMETHING Have you used it in the last six months? If not, do a swop with friends. “Any time you both need the items back, you can still get hold of them.”
