Simply Her (Singapore) - - Smartshopper Road Test -

$798 (without contract), from all telcos and the Samsung Experience Store. 4.3-inch touch screen, 16-megapixel rear camera, 10x optical zoom.

EASE OF USE The heaviest at 208g and with a protruding lens on one side. It was hard to shoot with one hand. What irked me was the oversensitive shutter button – it opened the camera lens every time I brushed it. Like the Nokia, it let me adjust aperture, shutter speed and ISO.

RESPONSIVENESS There’s a lag of two seconds between continuous shots.

OUTDOOR SHOTS Decent, with realistic colours. INDOOR SHOTS Colours were slightly dull. CLOSE-UPS Macro shots were the sharpest and had rich colours – great for nature and food shots.

MODES & EFFECTS Had the most effects – 20 – and unique modes like Kids Shot, which plays a sound to attract the children’s attention. The Drama mode was fun, and best for creative action shots. It takes up to 100 continuous shots in four seconds and combines some into one image.

VERDICT Innovative effects put this above your average phone camera, but it isn’t so handy as a smartphone.
