Hansang Korean Restaurant & Market
#02-14 The Grandstand, tel: 6463-6508. Open 11.30am-10pm daily. The first thing you’re greeted by is a Korean minimart stocked with snacks, instant noodles and beverages. The all-youcan-eat Korean BBQ buffet, with six meats and other sides like japchae and spicy rice cakes, operates from 11.30am-3.30pm and 5-9.30pm daily.
If you prefer the a la carte menu, order these signatures:
Modum ($58), a raw beef platter for two that you can barbecue on the griddle yourself. It includes marinated short ribs, US prime ribeye, and brisket.
Samgye Tang (half a chicken, $15; whole chicken, $23), a traditional soupy dish in which chicken is stuffed with Korean ginseng and glutinous rice before being cooked for two to three hours until tender.
Danhobak Galbi Jjim ($28) has chunks of meat braised to a fall-off-the-bone texture, with soft potatoes and egg slices in a hollowed-out pumpkin bowl.
