Just like your complexion needs priming before you apply makeup, your lips should
be a perfect canvas before adding lipstick or gloss.
How to make lip colour last
1 Exfoliate. Dab some lip balm onto a soft toothbrush and gently brush your lips.
2 Moisturise. Plumped-up, smooth, hydrated lips are the perfect base for lip makeup to glide over smoothly. “Apply lip balm before you apply base makeup for your face so that the balm has time to be absorbed,” says Cosme Decorte international makeup artist, Osamu Dobashi.
3 Create a colour base. Add light pressure as you apply lipstick so that the colour sinks into each microfold on your lips, then blot off the excess
4 with tissue paper. Add powder. Osamu says you can “use your finger to lightly dab powder on your lips”, to help your
5 lipstick stay put. Reapply lipstick. And you’re good to go!
