Cookies & Cream
It’s not just a flavour; it’s how we like our ice cream – sandwiched between crumbly cookies. and the RACHEL XIE Simply Her team find out where to get the best cookiewiches.
1 COOKIES FOR SID COOKIE WICH $5.90 EACH, FROM COOKIES FOR SID, #B1-10 CITYLINK MALL, TEL: 6338- 0924. Flavours we tried: all 12 cookies with Vanilla Bean and Salted Caramel Cheesecake ice cream We love that we can mix and match the cookies and ice cream flavours for these cookiewiches. Rich but not too sweet, the Salted Caramel Cheesecake was our favourite ice cream of the day – we recommend having it squished between chewy Brown Sugar cookies. Also delish were the fudgey Triple Choc cookies studded with macadamia nuts – best with the dense Vanilla Bean ice cream. 2 PAT & STICK’S ICE CREAM SANDWICH $6.90 EACH, FROM PAT & STICK’S HOMEMADE ICE CREAM CO., TAKASHIMAYA D.S. FOOD HALL. Flavours we tried: Vanilla Choc and Double Chocolate It’s no fluke that these two ranked at the top of our charts – both boasted perfectly round, darkchocolate fudge cookies that were firm enough to clamp the ice cream in place, yet satisfyingly crumbly when we chomped into them. Whether you prefer a decadent chocolate-on-chocolate combo or the contrast of milky vanilla against chocolate, you won’t be disappointed. 3 THE ICE CREAM & COOKIE CO. GOURMET ICE CREAM SANDWICH $5 EACH, FROM ICECREAMCOOKIECO.COM, TEL: 6297-9914. Flavours we tried: Milk & Cookies and Choco Noisette This would be our go-to place for generously sized ice cream sandwiches that are light on the tummy. We thought the Choco Noisette with chocolate hazelnut ice cream and dark cocoa cookies would be unbearably sinful, but it managed to please our inner chocolate fiend without cloying our palate. The Milk & Cookies had the most luscious vanilla bean ice cream, but the chewy chocolate chip cookies were a tad stiff. 4 ICE CREAM GALLERY COOKIEWICH $6 EACH OR $10.90 FOR TWO, FROM CEDELE, #01- 01/04 NOVENA SQUARE, TEL: 6258-5991. Flavours we tried: Vanilla Chocolate and Sea Salt Caramel Our pick between the two would be the Sea Salt Caramel, which teamed salted caramel ice cream with crispy double chocolate cookies. The strong notes of burnt caramel and salt gave this sweet treat more depth. Skip the Vanilla Chocolate, which had so-so Belgian chocolate ice cream between buttery, too-soft cookies.
