Another way to detox is through a juice cleanse, and online store Hic’ Juice makes it convenient by delivering the fresh products straight to your doorstep.
Beauty editor Simone Wu tried the Reboot 3-day Cleanse for beginners. It includes 18 bottles of organic coldpressed juice (500ml each).
DAY 1 “After taking a glass of warm lemon water at 7.30am, I had my first juice at 9am. The Popeye Smoothie, a blend of red dragon fruit, pineapples, bananas, spinach and ionised water, was so delicious! Aside from the juices, I had to drink at least 2 litres of ionised or purified water every day of the cleanse.
The juices filled me up nicely though my stomach started growling about 10 minutes before meals. I had healthy (and comfortable) bowel movements during the day, and felt ready for bed by 11pm (early for me).
DAY 2 I lost 1.2kg after my first day. Yippee! Someone who didn’t know I was doing a juice cleanse commented that my complexion looked clearer. I wasn’t so keen to drink some of the vegetable blends but kept reminding myself of other yummy juices like the Nut Milk, a dessert concoction of non-dairy milk, raw cashews and almonds, vanilla, medjool dates, Himalayan salt, cinnamon and ionised water.
DAY 3 When I woke up, I felt so wellrested that I didn’t hit the snooze button. There was also a big smile on my face as I stepped on the weighing scale – I’d lost another 0.8kg! Later in the day, though, I got cranky with my frequent trips to the toilet, and started to crave solid food.
RESULTS I woke up on day four feeling as energetic as the day before, and discovered I had lost another 0.5kg – a total of 2.5kg over three days! My bowel movements improved and I became more conscious of the food I ate.”
COST The Reboot 3-day Cleanse costs $329.56 while delivery costs $26.75 (including GST). Hic’ Juice recommends that beginners follow up with a cleanse once every quarter or every other month.
