You Can Start at Any Age

There is no ideal age to start bo­tulinum toxin treat­ments – you can do it once you have vis­i­ble ex­pres­sion lines and wrin­kles, says Dr Shiau. It can smooth crow’s feet, fine lines around the eyes, fore­head wrin­kles, frown lines and lines on the neck. It can also be used to cre­ate a dim­ple on the chin, and lift the eye­brows. Bo­tulinum toxin can even be in­jected into the mus­cles we use for chew­ing, along the jaw line, to make the face look slim­mer, says Dr Ramirez. It can be em­ployed to man­age ex­ces­sive sweat­ing, mus­cle spasms, mus­cle stiff­ness and chronic mi­graine too.

Dr Chuah adds that it has also been used to treat mus­cu­lar con­di­tions in chil­dren, such as ble­pharospasm, an ab­nor­mal twitch­ing of the eyelid.
