NAIL THAT MID-CAREERSWITCH INTERVIEW
Karin Clarke, then regional director of Randstad Singapore & Malaysia, a recruitment and human resources service provider, has some “model answers” to a few tricky interview questions.
“You appear to be overqualified for this position. Won’t you get bored?” Offer examples of how you found opportunities for professional growth in your past positions. The key here is to show the benefits of being proactive.
“Why do you think you are qualified for this job? I don’t see relevant experience that matches our needs.” Identify your transferable skills and work out how these can be applied to the role. Use examples to put your point across.
“You’ve been with your company for 10 years. Can you change the way you do things?” Demonstrate how you’ve experienced change during your tenure – be it a new project, a new boss or a new way of working – or even better, tell your interviewer about how you initiated change in the workplace that benefited the organisation.
